BLACK BOYS II BLACK MEN
Dr. Cynthia D. Smith is an inspiration to many. She is known as the "Educated Entrepreneur". As a first-generation college graduate, she became motivated to research the lack of achievement of African American Males through her experience of working in secondary education and seeing firsthand how African American Males struggled academically in reading. Dr. Smith has a proven legacy of impacting youth academically, mentoring and leading efforts in some of Jacksonville's most challenging schools. She opened the "1st Free Private Stem School" in the Eastside of Jacksonville. Smith continues to consult and is a serial entrepreneur.
Traditionally, students have received a cookie cutter education. However, in this book the author has encompassed research studies to show the insightful outcomes of how African American males in secondary education have lacked reading achievement for years. This research transcends throughout their adult life which meaningfully has some connections to how they build relationships, create families, and the confidence they carry. This book is recommended for every educator as this research is important to understand and can lead to a solution to educating more Black Boys II Black Men.
